Pitch Perfect

Pitch Perfect
I'm not a Ron Swanson, but I am a beer drinking, boot wearing, steak eating Die Hard loving guy. In other words, I was pretty much not the target audience for this film. But enough of my lady friends convinced me to give it a shot. I got these girls into Sons of Anarchy and Spartacus: Blood and Sand respectively so I figured I owed it to them to take their word.

I loved this film for a variety of reasons. I remember seeing the trailer and rolling my eyes and assuming it was some kind of terrible Glee era product trying to capitalize on the success. And honestly it could have been, but that still didn't detract from my enjoyment.

First, so far as I can tell this is an original script/film etc. And whether that's good or bad doesn't detract from my appreciation. So already points for being something new, even if the story is as predictable as you can kind of guess it is. But I've seen Die Hard tons of times. It's about the journey not the destination.

And Pitch Perfect's journey is great. You all know the story, Beca (Anna Kendrick) joins a fledgling college Accapella group and they go to finals. But it's charming, sweet, witty, and the music is actually pretty good. Special mention again to Anna Kendrick who is a FANTASTIC singer, I was very blown away. Gorgeous voice.

It's a very fun and enjoyable film and I actually wanna see it again. I'm not the target audience but it still hit a home run in my book. Great film that leaves you in a good mood. - Customer Reviews

This Is 40

This Is 40
The only reason I can think that other reviewers didn't think it was funny is because they are not married with kids. Maybe there are certain truths in this movie that i think are simply hilarious but you may not fully get until you are married. My kids are not nearly as old as those in the movie...but already I can relate to a lot of the instances and that is why it is so funny. If you were looking for a pot-smoking-drop-out sequel to "Knocked Up" then this is definitely not it. It is a different humor and maybe you have to have been at the same point in your life as these two characters for it to be truly hilarious. Yes, it is not pretty at times, the lady of the house complains and the gentleman is clueless...I don't know about anyone else but that can describe me and my husband some days of the year! As for a reviewer saying all the funny bits were in the ads...I don't know what ads he watched but the ones I watched weren't even in the movie!! (for instance Paul Rudd in his underwear while his daughter skypes a boy...that does not actually make the final cut of the film.) I'm not 40 yet, but I thought this film was fantastic!

Synopsis: From the director of Knocked Up comes a comedic look at an American family as one couple (Paul Rudd, Leslie Mann) tries to balance romance, parents and children in their own hilarious ways.
Starring: Paul Rudd, Leslie Mann
Supporting actors: John Lithgow, Megan Fox, Maude Apatow, Iris Apatow, Chris O'Dowd, Jason Segel, Melissa McCarthy, Albert Brooks, Lena Dunham, Annie Mumolo, Robert Smigel, Charlyne Yi, Lisa Darr, Michael Ian Black, Graham Parker, Billy Joe Armstrong

Hotel Transylvania

Hotel Transylvania
Hotel Transylvania What a fun and heartfelt film Hotel Transylvania was when I recently attended a screening whereby producer Michelle Murdocca (Open Season 2, Stuart Little) explained, "Executive producer and star, Adam Sandler did an amazing job joining this production late in its original inception. It took some 10 years to get this project in theatres," who herself was on the project from the beginning.

Russian born director Genndy Tartakovsky (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) says, "It was a fun an amazing challenge to get this going and it was a real different environment working with a larger studio." His attention to the details made this film work from page to screen.

The story centers around a place where all monsters can go to be themselves. Naturally walking around, celebrating anniversaries, eating as they do, sleeping the way they do, even swimming in pools and enjoying a night of fun and partying. The place (a really creepy castle) was built by Dracula himself (voiced amazingly well by Adam Sandler (Click, Bedtime Stories)) and because of an early accident due to the fear that monsters have toward humans, a tragic accident leaves him to be a single father. Raising and `protecting' his daughter from the outside world.

Mavis, his daughter, who is sharply voiced by Selena Gomez (The Wizards of Waverly Place, Another Cinderella Story) reaches her 118th birthday and decides she needs to see the world because of the sheltered life her father has created for her. Due to a series of mishaps and bad turn of events a `lie' goes very wrong and she soon realizes what she has been hidden from.

In steps a real human, quite by accident, Jonathan, played by Andy Samberg (SNL, That's My Boy), wanders his way into the hotel. Yet another lie, Dracula tries to cover his true human self and pass Jonathan off as a `real' monster. Another thing that Dracula didn't see coming was the moment that Mavis and Jonathan meet and their eyes connect, you guessed it, the real magic of the heart happens.

The screenplay by Peter Baynham (Borat, Bruno) and Robert Smigel (SNL, You Don't Mess With The Zohan) does something that most live-action screenplays try to achieve but never do, it mixes some great fast paced visual gags with a real heart and real believable story. This movie is about a father and daughter relationship as well as misconceptions we all carry with us based on really never checking things out for ourselves.

This film has a great line-up of really hysterical characters including; Frankenstein voiced by Kevin James (King of Queens, Hitch); Mrs. Frankenstein Wanda voiced by Molly Shannon (Superstar, Analyze This); The Wolfman Wayne voiced by Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire, Grown-Ups) and his wife Eunice voiced by Fran Drescher (The Nanny, Beautician and the Beast); The Mummy Murray voiced by CeeLo Green (Kung Fu Panda, Kick Ass) and playing the hunchback Quasimodo is the voice of Jon Lovitz (Big, A League of Their Own).

Great for the Halloween theme and in full 3-D, this film was amazingly funny, and full of great classic-style sight gags that you'll probably need to see it more than once to catch them all. "I took a lot of time to make sure this film worked on all levels. From the script to the performances and even the technology in making it," says the director Genndy . And you can really see it on screen!

What makes this animated feature by Columbia Pictures so good, is that it has a very big heart and an extremely relatable story to go with it. The whole family will really enjoy this film!

Starring: Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg
Directed by: Genndy Tartakovsky

Men In Black 3

Men In Black 3
Let's get this out of the way right off the bat: Men in Black 3 is not nuanced, high-brow cinema. It's plagued by some of the same things as most big-budget popcorn flicks -- occasionally overdone special effects, the stray plot hole here or there, and a bit of predictability. But as long as you can put that aside, and frankly such things should be expected anyway, you'll find an extremely enjoyable and satisfyingly nostalgic movie.

The Men in Black series seems to be a love-it-or-hate-it affair, and chances are if you enjoyed either the classic first movie or the.. well.. less than classic second movie, you'll enjoy MiB3 as well. Will Smith returns to top comedy form as Agent J, Tommy Lee Jones is as enjoyably grumpy as ever in his role as Agent K, and Josh Brolin delivers a nearly-perfect performance as a younger K. Whether Will Smith is paired up with the world-weary Jones or the brash, charming Brolin, the on-screen dynamic is always enjoyable and often hilarious.

The occasionally wonky plot is buoyed by an interesting -- if slightly predictable -- story arc and strong acting on all parts. Overall the movie much more resembles the first movie than the second, and for those who grew up watching the original there's plenty of nostalgia to go around. By the time the resolution comes around, it makes for a very satisfying and surprisingly touching finish. Don't expect a Best Picture winner, but MiB3 has enough working for it to offer nearly everyone a highly enjoyable experience.

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen
Lasse Hallström, master director of such memorable films as Chocolat, The Cider House Rules, What's Eating Gilbert Grape?, The Shipping News, An Unfinished Life, Hachi: A Dog's Tale, has proven that he understands human frailty and the inherent human comedy we all experience but find so difficult to face. Working with a script by Simon Beaufoy (The Full Monty, Slumdog Millionaire, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, Yasmin, etc) adapted from Paul Torday's popular novel by the same name, and selecting a cast of some of our brightest and worthy character actors in the business, he has created a strange story that is at once full of political satire, relationship studies, fragile human frailties and hope, and in doing so has given us one of the surprise best films of the year.

Sheikh Muhammed (Amr Waked, a mesmerizingly fine actor) is a visionary sheik who believes that his passion for the peaceful pastime of salmon fishing can enrich the lives of his people, and he dreams of bringing the sport to the not so fish-friendly desert with the hope that he can make the desert green and a happy home for his people. He has an endless supply of money and instructs his representative Harriet (Emily Blunt) - a bright but relationship-anxious girl who has just started an affair with a soldier, Capt. Robert Mayers (Tom Mison, a dashingly handsome new face on the screen!) - to turn the dream into reality, an extraordinary feat that will require the involvement of Britain's leading fisheries expert Dr. Alfred Jones (Ewan McGregor) who happens to think the project both absurd and unachievable: the naive Alfred is an idealist whose marriage to his sold wife Mary (Rachael Stirling) is one rocky ground. That is, until the Prime Minister's overzealous press secretary Bridget (Kristin Scott Thomas in a brilliant character role) latches on to it as a 'good will' story. Now, this unlikely team will put it all on the line and embark on an upstream journey of faith and fish to prove the impossible, possible.

In addition to this extraordinary cast there are tasty cameo roles for Conleth Hill as Alfred's blustering Dickensonian boss Bernard Sugden among others. The concept of taking unlikely colleagues into a life changing relationship on this adventure dreamed by Sheikh Muhammed is more than tender; it is also very intelligently written romance. Highly recommended. Grady Harp, July 12

The Three Stooges

The Three Stooges
I am a die hard fan of the stooges. I heard that this was a good movie from another fan. He was right, I loved it! They did it up well. Not over the top. A very nice and loving tribute to the orginals.. a high five to all involved in the making of this film. The only thing I did not like were the cast of the Jersey shore. I can not stand those guys.Enough of them already!! But they did have a small part. And I would like to poke them in the eyes too, like Moe did. So I got a laugh at it when he did. The move was very good. A feel good movie.

I was fortunate enough to get to watch The Three Stooges shorts everyday as a kid. One thing that others have not mentioned, is that even the Original Three Stooges did not make very good movies. This however is a good movie once you get over it not actually being the real Moe, Larry, and of course the real Curly. The entire cast from the Director down did a good job on this one, and I can't see giving it anything but a great review.

My 6 yr old son got some chuckles out of the movie from the slapshtick, and my wife, who is a foreigner got some serious laughing. I was amazed she caught a lot of the humor and got a kick out of the Stooges. But I remember the original guys and this was so close to that humor. I was laughing so hard through most of this, and tears running down my eyes. You had to be quick to read a lot of the signs used in the segments. Part of today's humor mixed in. Nothing horribly offensive. The end of the Three Stooges, there is disclaimer about how they poke the eyes and hit each other with a hammer. I am pre-ordering this to show as an outdoor movie night with some friends.

Friends With Kids

Friends With Kids
There are, apparently, two kinds of people in the hip urban world: those who sneer at families that bring children to "fancy" restaurants, and those who either have kids and lives that include kids, or just plain people who have grown up and aren't clinging to their hip, groovy narcissism. Kudos to writer/director Jennifer Westfeldt for so skillfully exposing this divide, and bringing it out of the shadowy world of snarky interweb chat rooms and onto the silver screen.

"Friends With Kids" is a surprisingly good modern romance film, with edgy humor that is matched by the script's soulfulness and emotional intelligence. This is sort of a "chick flick," but of the modern variety with acerbic dialogue and plenty of cussing, but also with a strong emotional core, and a real point to make. The movie opens at a fancy restaurant where three couples of footloose yuppie BFFs meet for one of their regular nights on the town. A few tables away there is a family with some slightly noisy children and this of course sets the hipsters off -- breeders!! curse them!! -- until one couple announces (oopsie!) that they are going to have a kid soon. Parenthood enters all their lives and they all deal with it differently.

This movie -- written, directed by and starring Jennifer Westfeldt -- has some of the best couples-fighting scenes and she's-just-one-of-the-guys boy-girl dialogue I've seen in a film, and top-notch acting throughout. John Hamm seems like a peripheral character right up until the end when he gets two great scenes -- one loud, the other quiet -- while costars Maya Rudolph, Chris O'Dowd, Adam Scott and Kristen Wiig deliver solid performances as well. The pivotal scene in which Adam Scott's NYC uber-hipster switches teams to play for the adults is wonderfully understated, and decisively flips the script on the self-involved pretty people, using their own language and status symbols to drive home the point that you can be human as well as hip. The dramatic buildup is a little slow, but the payoff is worth it. Recommended

Despicable Me

Despicable Me
I don't usually read other reviews of books and movies before I write one myself. But I was so impressed with Despicable Me, I had to read what others had to say about it. The thing about reviews, in my opinion, is that reviewers often over analyze movies. What is the point of dissecting an animated movie made for kids? It's okay to say that you just really liked a movie because it made you feel good.

I read that the movie copies other movies, has stereotyped characters and does too much to try to make you love it. As for me, I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED IT. I don't care what the producers borrowed from other movies, if in fact they did. And I am so glad they did too much to try to make me like it. Simply put, this movie is adorable. I smiled a lot, giggled and was charmed out of my seat.

The action-packed story is about a funny-looking, Russian-accented villain named Gru (Steve Carell), who tries to outdo another villain, named Vector (Jason Segel). Gru has flashbacks about his disapproving mother (Julie Andrews) while he plot to steal the moon. The story involves 3 cuter-than-cute little girls and a whole bunch of tiny pill-capsule-looking creatures, who work for Gru in his basement laboratory. The characters in the movie are all either odd looking or darling cute. If you are sensitive to overweight people, you may be slightly offended by some of the obese characters, many of whom are mean. But you'll have to admit they are mesmerizing to watch - especially villain loan shark Mr. Perkins (Will Arnett) with his triangular-shaped head and mushy, southern-belle-talking Miss Hattie (Christen Wiig) from the adoption agency.

The youngest of the three girls in the movie, Agnes (Elsie Fisher), is so charming, she will melt your heart. Her voice and facial expressions are darling. And the little creatures who work for Gru generate a whole lot of laughter from the audience.

In the theater, when the movie was over, everyone in the audience clapped and cheered. One boy got up and danced through the credits. That's how I know it was a great movie. And unless you have no heart or are one of those over-analyzing critics, you too will cheer when you see delightful, Despicable Me.

Project X

Project X
Project X isn't perfect (I hate using the term "Oscar worthy" as it implies the Oscars should be taken seriously), but it certainly isn't anywhere near as bad as the rottentomatoes mafia have made it out to be. Nor is it the throw away piece of mindless entertainment that so many "positive" reviews make it sound like.

It is an exhilarating portrayal of youthful abandon; that strange, wondrous and chaotic time in our lives where we aren't quite children and not quite adults. It's about first times and loss of innocence. It's about needing to mess up, in order to learn first hand from one's young, dumb mistakes. It's about rites of passage and, most of all, the need to be noticed. To matter. To be remembered. Of course the characters go about fulfilling this need in highly irresponsible ways, with disastrous results and serious consequences. Apparently these consequences weren't Draconian enough for the more holier than thou viewers. So what. This isn't church youth group propaganda.

The dramatic and comedic elements don't feel as staged and stilted as in similar films. Also, there's a raw honesty on display that you just don't usually see in movies geared towards teens. Even classics like Superbad tend to portray teen debauchery from the neck up. Project X portrays it from the neck down, warts and all. There's no comfortable distancing here to assure the audience it's all in good fun. The audience is pulled right into the trenches along with the characters. Teenage sexual blossoming (or in this case, exploding) can be a very uncomfortable thing to watch for some. Project X's no BS, let it all hang out approach is no doubt the cause of so much critical self-righteous condemnation. This ain't American Pie. It's different. I applaud.

Also, the friendship between Thomas and Kirby was a nice touch. You don't often see male and female platonic friends in these types of movies, and it's a welcome change.

Pay no attention to the lame criticisms indicating that the film is morally bankrupt, unfunny, unoriginal or "has no plot" (I wonder if the people claiming this actually know what a plot is). Criticisms no doubt coming from the type of viewers who obligingly guzzled gallons of Dark Knight cool-aid.

This may be the most authentic, realistic portrayal of party animals running amok since I don't even know what.

American Reunion '12

American Reunion '12
Well, I am 25 now, and for awhile I've been struggling with some feelings concerning the things I used to like not being relative or popular anymore, moving onto new hobbies and leaving other things I was constantly into behind, having a broader view on many different subjects, having different opinions on things that I used to feel a certain way about, etc. To put it mildly, I am growing up. I've realized it's important to hold onto things from your past, but you also have to be ready, both feet planted on the ground and facing forward, for the future and what it brings as life continuously changes. To live in the past is death, and I feel that this movie perfectly sums up my feelings and gives them a voice.

I was expecting way more off color jokes, but this movie was SURPRISINGLY deep to me. If you are a warm blooded male, you can remember a time when chasing women was a main reason for living at one point...which has pretty much been the backbone of the American Trilogy...Hey, Stiffler and Finch, were all about Cadence in "American Wedding" despite Jim and Michelle tying the note being the big deal in that film. But here the tone is DRASTICALLY changed. The boys are still themselves, but older. New challenges arise, as they do with any grown man who is heading into adulthood and away from the care-free days of being a teenager or young adult in their early 20's.

Also, Jim's mom being dead (I hope I didn't spoil this, but I assume we all saw the previews) and the challenges faced by Jim's father, Noah, in moving on also struck a cord with me ( I lost my mother this year) and gave this film a "REAL" feeling. So we not only saw, young thirty somethings dealing with the loss of youth and the expectations of adulthood, but we also witnessed an elderly man recovering from the heart break of losing the love of his life and the mother of his son. (SOMETHING ANY MARRIED PERSON WHO STICKS IT OUT UNTIL THE END WILL UNFORTUNATELY COME TO ONE DAY)

Most of all, I think the challenges faced by the boys (I mean, men) in their marriages and dealing with their relationships struck the deepest with me because they were authentic problems I think all adult males will run into some of them, at some point in their lives. How they were all handled though, came off as beautiful to me. Watch Vicki's and Kevin's scene at the actual reunion, towards the end of the film, and tell me you don't feel your heart get tugged at a smidge, if not a lot, at the dialogue and how it's finalized.

Keep an open mind and you will enjoy this. When I was young...The adults I saw in their 20's and 30's were "The Real Adults" to me. Anyone over that, was an "old person." Well, funny how things work out. I am sure kids now look up to me as "A real adult" and my father, uncles, and their friends are now "The Old people," when they used to be "The real adults"...funny how things change, but still stay the same overall...and that's the perfect way to describe this film. The tone is EXTREMELY different, but the characters are still the same, and still extremely enjoyable. As one character said in the film to another (I think it was Choir chick to Chris)..."You are so different, but you are still the same."

If you are going to see 1 movie in theaters for a long time, make it this one. Thanks for reading, and maybe bring some kleenex, if you are emotionally mature and inclined to being moved by well done movies.

This Means War

This Means War
This is a romantic comedy combined with a spy thriller that continues to entertain with never a dull moment. The appeal of the story structure is part of the success since a beautiful woman in love with two men, trying to choose between them, is a never fail plot strategy. Having the two guys appeal to the audience as much as they appeal to the character played by Reese Witherspoon kept up the suspense. Male competition is also a great plot element and this film has the two fellows in competition while at the same time dependent on each other while serving as CIA agents.

Reese Witherspoon is excellent, as always, but during the film I realized how often she tilts her head when talking to a man, conveying almost constant seduction. One of the agents, played by Chris Pine is the playboy type and thus the viewer wonders whether Reese is the woman that can make this playboy settle down. He is contrasted with another CIA agent, played by Tom Hardy, a man with family instincts. Chelsea Handler plays Reese Witherspoon's best friend who offers terrible advice.

This is a good romantic comedy with Reese Witherspoon in rare form. She is complimented by two male actors who are perfectly cast. The script is funny and action packed. It is good entertainment.

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island
I'm one of the guys who buys for 3d effects 1st-plot later.Every now and then a film offers the whole package, and this was one of them.Plenty of action on the island, giant insects, lizards, electric eels, birds, ect, all in real good 3d.The Rock is so good in this movie I was surprised that his acting skills and humor have really improved. Not a dull moment, this movie moves along quickly,is interesting and visual.I gave this movie 5 stars because I honestly couldn't find a reason not to.I would say this is a movie the whole family would enjoy. For 3d lovers this is a movie to add to your collection.

This movie is an adventure of imagination. The young boy bonds with his stepfather who is brilliant and fun and they go in search of a mystery island where his grandfather lives. The South Pacific is full of sights and smells that would rock anybody into a happy place. Fish that are magenta, purple pink and tropical blue are all on the dock. They hire a loopy young acting flyer and his daughter. He owns an adventure helicopter, rickety and old but it will be part of all the excitement they encounter. They find the shangrila island with big and small animals. The underwater world is breathtaking with masses of colors and plants. A mountain of gold stands out in the distance. The hiking thru the heart of the jungle holds more visual images that are full of what anybody creative would love to have. They are living out the Jules Verne book in a way but with there own special touches. There are whirlwind storms flying all around, sparkling lakes and streams filled with shiny plants and stones, green all over lush and beautiful, everything you would wish for on a secret island. There are bees that fly, the characters jump on their backs and zoom over the plankton and planet of abundance. There is a submarine they fire up with the help of an electrical eel. This movie is full of positive energy.

Mirror Mirror

Mirror Mirror
I was lucky enough to see this movie on opening day, and I'm so glad I did! In brief, it's a modern "twist" on the classic Snow White story. (The main twist being that Snow White ends up saving the prince.) But there are plenty more... you will not get bored! :) One aspect I loved about this movie was that there is a "price for using magic," which the Queen keeps ignoring. Most movies that involve magic don't bother with the subject. Everything has a consequence, and magic is no exception. The dwarves are not what you'd expect, either. This is a refreshing twist. While their names still tell about their individual characters, they're almost nothing like the cartoon dwarves. An emotional aspect is brought into play during the story as well, where we learn why they act the way they do. (I don't want to give too much away, so just go see the movie!)

Overall, the movie was super funny, yet it still had serious themes interwoven throughout (such as Snow White's and the dwarves' backstories). There is a definite darkness always lurking in the background, but the humor does a wonderful job of lightening it to the point where you just "go along with it." We all know how the story goes anyway, right? (Well, a few things are turned around, but the basic gist is the same.) I know any parents and grandparents out there are wondering whether it's kid friendly. I would say yes, but maybe not for the really small kids. There aren't any bad words, no violence, and anything bad that happens-- for the most part-- is accompanied by laugh-out-loud antics. The reason I say not really little kids is only because they might not be able to follow the story very well; the movie gave a feel of being directed toward a more mature audience, even though it was clean enough to be a family movie. There's enough humor that the entire family should come out of it having some favorite scene which made them laugh aloud. (Mine involves some life-size puppets...) :) I end my review with an enthusiastic recommendation: if you've been tossing the idea around in your head whether or not to see this movie, GO SEE IT!!! It will be well worth your time!

21 Jump Street

21 Jump Street
Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum rule in this politically incorrect comedy that had me laughing out loud. Jonah Hill shouting at a suspect running away, "I'm going to shoot you if you don't slow down." They go undercover to find the drug dealers at a high school. Having been out of high school for 7 years they find it hard to adopt to 2012. Ice Cube was great as the stereotypical angry black police captain who tells people to embrace their stereotypes. Jake M. Johnson is the principle. His first words are "I am just one more gay black kid being punched in the face from a nervous break down." The drama teacher tells his students, "I remember being in upstate New York doing cocaine with Willie Nelson's horse..."

The great one liners are seemingly endless. Jonah Hill tries out for the role of Peter Pan while Channing's chemistry teacher comes on to him. The guys forgot who they were and end up with each other identities. Jonah Hill is in drama and a "track star" while meat head Tatum is in the AP classes. The cops are bumbling in their roles but manage to get the job done. There are some social issues mentioned in the movie in a comedic fashion. One is the difference on how people view a black kid who dies from drugs as from a white kid. Another is the commercialization of education. Highly recommended comedy.

Wanderlust

I am a 30-something person who enjoys and has had much contact, and even temporarily lived with the kind of free-living people featured in the movie, and I think this homage is pure genius! I usually don't think much of the two main actors at all (Rudd or Aniston), but they were good in this movie. The hippie ensemble is absolutely perfect. Just loved this movie and if you have a love for these counter-culture types, you will probably find it to be harmless fun; a good-humored poke at hippies. The film takes every cliche about hippies ever and squeezes them into the commune characters, but it's ok because it's self-aware that's it's just a movie; it's actually not trying to be offensive to "hippies" but in an odd way it celebrates them in a loving way! My boyfriend agrees, we both know people like the ones on the commune and believe the film presents them as sincere idealists.

Overall, the whole movie is light, fun, is full of memorable moments and characters, has some lowbrow humor scenes (but not as overt as other movies), and has a more unique storyline than the average comedy. Like the two main characters, I appreciate that counter culture, but can't live in it full time. Usually I can't abide "raunchy" movies, but this one is actually sweet. The lowbrow humor is more about the incredible openness of the people versus the overwhelming private-ness of the outsiders, which is a very funny juxtaposition!

The movie is optimistic, wacky, and perhaps a bit too graphic (nudity, etc., but mostly in a non-sexual way). Are you offended by briefly watching old nudists (in a non-sexual scene)? Really? Haven't you ever seen male genitalia before? The nudity would be essential to telling the story of such a community (of which there are hundreds across America), so I don't believe it to be gratuitous in this case. These people really exist out there; I've met people like pretty much all the characters or bits of them and THEY have zero shame or weirdness about being naked (but of course, WE feel weird about it, hence the comedy). It's just how they are, so it's all plausible.

Some interesting flaws of the unexamined, materialistic life are pointed out throughout the film, such as how the brother basically deals with excrement to buy fancy things, like a big house--a metaphor for how the main character (and we) all live working "shoveling poop" or working at a hateful job just to buy "stuff" that makes us miserable anyway; so it's not 100% fluff--there is a message behind the laughs. I thought the movie got funny and wackier as it progressed, with a ridiculous ending to an incredulous story. Why does anyone want a realistic ending to a silly movie? Perhaps people are too uptight with their expectations. I especially liked how the Aniston and Rudd characters change because of their experience on the farm. I would definitely recommend watching this if you are in a playful and open mood.

I would definitely caution prudish, mainstream, or materialistic types from watching this movie--it's not for the uptight! I also don't think this movie is actually as "raunchy" as viewers might expect it to be. I typically can't stand Rudd or Aniston, yet I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Casino Jack

Casino Jack (2010)
casino jack movie is a story that illustrates how the political system in America is run by the highest authorities, at the beginning of the story described how Jack Abramoff, played by Kevin Spacey, this figure has a character who is very selfish and not really care about other people.

Jack Abramoff was a political lobbyist in Washington, where in his work he was doing a variety of ways to be successful no matter that he had hurt someone else, in this film we can see that in doing bad scandals politicians in washington. I think the film aims to lean the American people about their bad political system
